Pat Holton is mainly a self taught artist who has had private tuition from the late George Collie RHA. Pat is from Enfield, Co. Meath. As a Master Calligrapher and Sign Writer Pat works with various paint mediums to give trompel’oeil and faux painting that creates a 3D effect to his art.
His trade name Pat the Painter which is a registered Trade Mark is known from far and wide due to his fine sign work that has adorned many a shop front in the towns and streets of Ireland.
Pats raw approach to his paintings is as a result of not been influenced by the discipline of any tutor. His favourite artists are of the Impressionists, especially Van Gough.
Pat paints in the medium of Oil, Acrylic and Water Colour, his subjects are varied, ranging from Landscape, Townscape and Figurative and Still Life. Pats paintings are extremely popular with corporate and private buyers.
Pat is a full member of the Associations of Artists in Ireland, since the late eighties.
Pat has had two very successful exhibitions, his first at Market Yard Gallery Main Street Enfield in December of 2008, . His second at Walkers Old Pharmacy Enfield in December 2010. These exhibitions were a sell-out.
His next Exhibition will have a collection of Streetscape, Landscape and a limited edition of Giclee Prints
Pat was born in Enfield Co. Meath in 1953. son of the late Patrick and Sheila Holton Jordanstown, Co. Meath.
Pat trained under the late George Colley RHA at Schoolhouse Lane in Dublin. Pat is a full member of the Association of Artists in Ireland. Pat is a Master Sign Writer & Calligrapher who works in Gold Leaf and precious Metals.
