M V Nursing, trading as La Verna Nursing Home is committed to providing the highest quality of care to our residents and all those we come in contact with us. We are committed to ensuring a relationship and an environment that supports and maintains the dignity, rights and independence of our residents. We are also committed to ensure the physical and mental well being of our residents treating them with compassion, respect and trust.

M V Nursing is owned by Vincent and Jill McDonald. As well as La Verna, there is a sister home ‘Sunhill’ in Termonfeckin, Co Louth also owned by Vincent and Jill.

 La Verna is a 32-bedded residential unit for people over the age of 60 years. It is set back from the road and is accessed by steps to the front door, or by wheelchair through double doors to the dining room, which are level from the paved parking area to the front. The reception hall leads to the front sitting room, which overlooks the road. Care is provided on a long term basis and includes dementia care and some residents with mental health illness.

The centre is laid out over four floors with access to the upper levels by stairs with three separate stair lifts in place. There are five private single bedrooms, nine twin rooms which have an en suite shower and toilet, and three three-bedded rooms. The ground floor contains the kitchen, dining room, laundry room and ten bedrooms, four single, four twin and two three-bedded rooms. All ground floor bedrooms  have en suite shower and toilet facilities.

The assisted shower room and a separate bathroom are located on the ground floor level. There is also a small nurses’ station and clinical store room on this level.

A smoking area is located in a shed beside the exterior exit from the dining room. There are two sitting rooms, one to the front of the house, and a second in the extension at the rear of the house.

The dining room is adjacent to the kitchen on the ground floor.

The first floor has an office for the person in charge, and two twin rooms with interconnecting en suite shower and toilet facilities. The second floor has one single bedroom with hand washing sink, and two twin bedrooms both with en suite shower and toilet facilities. The third floor contains two residents’ bedrooms with an interconnecting en suite shower and toilet room facilities for all five residents.

Space is available for car parking on the front driveway, and on the residential street.
